Regulations
Reservations begin at 12 noon and end at 10 a.m.
Set out below are the rules you must abide by when fishing at Val Dore lakes. Some of them may seem obvious, and to the experienced anglers out there they will be common practice, but at the end of the day the welfare of the fish is paramount, and any negligence towards any fish will not be tolerated. These rules may necessarily apply to the venues and can be enforced at all times.
General rules
Angler’s shelters must be green or camouflage (large size tent forbidden). One tent maximum per angler. 3 RODS (maximum) per angler. (If you want to fish roaches please leave one carp rod.) A NO-KILL policy is on operation at the lake, all fish caught must be returned to the water immediately after capture (time for photos allowed). NEVER MORE THAN 5 MINUTES. THE SACKING of carp is strictly forbidden (please leave your sacks at home). Each angler must have and use:
HOOKS – single simple pattern BARBLESS ONLY (crushed barbs acceptable).
WE CONTROL IT AT EVERYTIME.
EQUIPMENT
UNHOOKING MAT – The use of a large padded unhooking mat is essential. Recommended min size 30» x 38» (70cm x 90cm) and at least 1.5» thick (4cm). LANDING NET – Large, min 42» (90 cm) opening WEIGH SLING – Continental and large scales. ANTISEPTIC – for treating any hook wounds. PARTICLES : customers WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO BRING THEIR OWN DRY OR SELF COOKED PARTICLES unless they are in packaging sold by a fishing company. This measure is aimed at avoiding an excessive amount of undercooked or uncooked particles, which is very harmful to fish. Of course, we can provide readymade cooked particles on site at a cheap price. No restrictions on bringing pellets and boilies by fishermen. All tigernuts must be crushed to bait with. GROUND BAITING – Is allowed but preferably light. Maximum 10 kilos per angler per week. All particles must be prepared and cooked properly before use. No entire peanuts or tiger nuts for baiting or mixed them. Entire particles could be use on hook. RIGS: All rigs must have safety in mind. LEADS – lead set-ups must prove to break-free without excessive force. Running or semi-fixed for Carp. LINE – Mono only, A minimum of 12lb mainline. No braided on mainline, Spod / Marker float rod only. Braid may be used for short hook links only, but it must be weaker than main line, super-thin braids such as fire line etc. are not allowed, if in doubt ask before you use and take alternatives with you. Leadcore is permitted for max 80cm. BAIT BOATS – are allowed but must be used sensibly. Please stay within your swims specified area.
PROHIBITED
NOT ALLOWED – The following are not allowed under any circumstances.
TO LAND BIG FISH OVER 70 LB ON THE BANK.
TO FISH OUTSIDE YOUR SPECIFIED AREA. BOATS – ROWING BOAT CARP SACKS and KEEP fish more than 5 minutes out of the water.
TO USE ANY OF THE PROHIBITED METHODS (double or triple hooks, gaffs etc.) NO BRAID ON MAINLINE (mono only). Braid allowed on hook link.
TO LIGHT A FIRE ON THE GROUND – BAR-B-QUES ARE PERMITTED
TO SWIM IN THE WATER. NO DRUNK PEOPLE. Any drunk person disturbing other customers will be escorted from the lake and definitely banned
TO PUT AND LEAVE ANY KIND OF MARK IN TREES ON THE BANK. ONE MARK IN THE WATER PER SWIM IS ALLOWED.
TO USE ELECTRIC HEATER OR USE ANY ELECTRIC FOR COOKING (use gas for it) like microwave…
BAITING & PARTICLES RESTRICTION
ATTENTION NEW FISHING RULE NOW : CUSTOMERS WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO BRING THEIR OWN PARTICLES even if they are in packaging sold by a fishing manufacturer. This measure is aimed at avoiding an excessive amount of undercooked or uncooked particles, which is very harmful to fish. Of course, we can provide ready-made cooked particles on site at a cheap price. No restrictions on bringing pellets and boilies by fishermen.
The purpose of these rules is to respect fish, nature and anglers. That is why we insist on quietness and cleanliness. These rules are subject to change at any time.
General rules
Fishing is exclusively NO-KILL with a maximum of 3 rods per angler. The number of rods allocated to each angler may not be shared between anglers.
Guest may not participate directly in fishing under any circumstances. However, they may assist the angler in landing the catch.
Night fishing is permitted.
The use of boats is prohibited on our waters.
Baitboats are permitted as long as they do not disturb other anglers.
Fishing is only permitted in designated areas (swims). Each angler must respect their fishing area (see map).
Fish caught must be returned to the water in the same lake where they were caught.
Fish must be kept out of the water for as short a time as possible – MAXIMUM 5 MINUTES – just long enough to take a photo, followed by returning them to the water as gently as possible.
Toilets are available at the entrance to the site, please use them. It is STRICTLY forbidden to litter the natural environment around the fishing spots…
The use of electric heaters or electric cooking equipment is prohibited. Please use gas for this purpose…
SILURE REGULATIONS – LAKE NO. 1 & 2
All catfish caught must go back in the same water and never in another lake. Never keep fish more than 5 minutes on the bank. Night fishing is permitted. 3 rods (max) per angler. Fishing always from the bank.
No boat…
You can use two hooks on line but must be single.
NO BRAID ON MAINLINE (mono only). Braid allowed on hook link No sacking, no boot to keep cats. Cats must go back to the water immediately. Never try to explore cats stomach it is forbidden.
You may use live bait, but not floating (surface fishing), if live baiting you must use size 5/0 to 10/0 hooks with a minimum of 30lb line and a 200gr lead (to avoid damage to pike).
Digestive inspection of catfish is also strictly prohibited.
Catfish must be returned to the lake in which they were caught (lake 1 or 2).
GUEST: Guests are welcome. One guest per angler. Guest never practices angling techniques or help. Guest can help for landing the fishes and photo only. If guest break the rules they will be consider by us as an angler and pay the rate for it.
MOTORHOME and CARAVAN are not allowed. (We don’t have a camping license !
LITTER: All litter must be kept in bags at all times and be closed and placed in wood box (bins). Please treat the site and nature with respect. We give you for free bin liners. Ask for them at the office. You must separate glass bottles and put them in blue or yellow bin liners.
TENTS: ANGLERS MUST STAY AND SLEEP IN FISHING TENT AND NEVER IN CAR OR VAN. One gazebo max per swim is permitted. Max size is 3m x 3 meters.Green or camou. Cooking tent is permitted.
MOVING TO OTHER SWIM: You can move to another swim in the morning but it depends of availabilities at this moment. Always ask to us before to know if it possible or not. Moving time only from 12am to 2 pm.
DOGS are NOT ALLOWED…
CARS AND VANS REGULATION
* CARS can be parked on every swims. Use them only to go out of the complex. From swim to reception please use bicycle or walk. (we hire bikes for cheap price)
* VANS. If you use a van, at your arrival, you have to choose option n° 1 or n° 2:
• Option n°1 – You park your van on swim, it doesn’t move all week.
• Option n°2 – You unload your gears on swim then you park it on the car park next to the reception. (At the entrance of the lake in secure place) You can go outside at anytime for shopping from 8:30 am to 7 pm. You can reload your gears on swim with the van when you leave the lakes
* NO CAR MOVING WHEN IT IS DARK EVEN TO GO TO THE TOILETS.
ELECTRICITY: may never be used for heating or cooking appliances (electric hob, microwave, kettle, etc.).
RUBBISH AND WASTE The use of rubbish bags is compulsory at the fishing spots. If you do not have any, we will provide them free of charge at reception. We ask you to separate glass from other waste by placing it in a distinctive coloured bag that we will give you on arrival. It is essential that you put all your waste in these bin bags and place them CLOSED in the wooden box provided at your fishing spot. It is strictly forbidden to throw loose rubbish into these boxes. We are in the countryside: it is essential that the fishing spots are left clean and free of rubbish when you leave. (In particular, do not leave behind any can tabs or fishing line).
VEHICLES
The use of vehicles on site should be kept to a minimum. We encourage our visitors to cycle or walk.
ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES:
> All bookings start at 12 am and finish at 10 am.
> Arrivals can only take place between 12 noon and 7 pm. For security reasons, the site is closed outside these hours. Several emergency numbers are available to contact us at any time.
> These rules must be signed by each angler upon arrival.
We will be happy to answer any questions you may have and make your stay as pleasant as possible in accordance with these rules.
RESPECT THE FISHES, SURROUNDINGS AND NEIGHBOURS Anglers found to be breaking these rules will be escorted from the lake.
